If you’re searching for the new, luxury “it” hotel in South Beach, you’ve found it. The Miami Beach EDITION, located on a 3.5-acre private enclave stretching from Collins Avenue to the ocean shoreline, is designed to feel intimate and glamorous. Outside, guests can choose from two swimming pools and several dinning options, all serving delicious food and cocktails. And the poolside Bungalows – where my friends and I watched the Super Bowl this year – offer the perfect balance of privacy and people watching in a lush, tropical setting. From entrance to beach, this new dazzling location boasts all white everything done with sophistication and charm – quintessential South Beach.
Every aspect of the traditional beach hotel has been re-imagined for the needs and desires of a new generation, with the intent of enhancing every guest’s stay whether for vacation, relaxation, or work. The basement spaces are dedicated to fun: a dance club, a four-lane bowling alley, and a 2,000-square-foot ice-skating rink, all of which is open to the public for a small fee. The Market At Edition offers 24-hour gourmet food in a casual open-air market setting, reminiscent of Eataly in NYC. The Matador Bar boasts sexy, Spanish old-world charm, while the Matador Terrace Restaurant offers outside dining in a gorgeous setting overlooking the pool. The conference room area is elegant and functional, and the luxury spa, where my husband and I both enjoyed pedicures (best foot message of my life!), was fabulous.
There are 294 individually designed guest rooms and suites, including 28 private bungalows and a striking rooftop penthouse. The property also has 26 residences. Rates start at $429 a night for a Standard King Room, and top out at $10,000 a night for the Bungalow Penthouse. The rooms are described as understated, and while I did not think our Ocean View King was anything special, the rest of the hotel went far beyond my expectations.
See the website for the latest offers and rates at The Miami Beach EDITION.
G&M TIP: Order the Lobster Grilled Cheese off the pool menu and the Sweet Pea Guacamole from the Matador Room. Both are insanely delicious!
