The beautiful beach town of Santa Barbara is located on California’s Central Coast, just two hours north of LA, between the steeply rising Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Santa Barbara has great weather year-round making it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway or a great place to take a week off and unwind. But with so many hotel options it’s hard to know where to book so I’ve created a list of my favorite SB hotels that will help you find the best hotel for you, no matter what your budget is!
FOUR SEASONS BILTMORE
Located in Montecito, the Four Seasons Biltmore is the best luxury hotel choice if you would like to stay on the beach and close to downtown Santa Barbara. Four Seasons is located on Butterfly Beach, walking distance to all the best restaurants in Montecito, including my favorite – Lucky’s. $$$$
SAN YSIDRO RANCH
Voted #1 Hotel in America by Forbes Mag, San Ysidro Ranch is nestled in the mountains of Montecito, and is the perfect place to stay if you want a quiet, romantic getaway. This is where I stayed when I got engaged! The private cottages, nestled amongst the trees and gardens, bring charming to a whole new level. $$$$
The Canary Hotel offers an inviting, upscale Spanish decor and is located right off State St in Santa Barbara so you can walk to the best shopping and restaurants. And the Canary has the only rooftop pool in Santa Barbara, which is a huge plus in the summer when you can lay out and order cocktails at the rooftop bar. $$$
BEST WESTERN CARPINTERIA
Located in Carpinteria just off the freeway, the Best Western is only 3 minutes from Santa Claus Lane, which is a great family beach for surfing and relaxing, and it’s only a 10 minute drive from downtown Santa Barbara. This particular hotel is very nice for a Best Western! $
CAS DEL MAR
A block from the beach in Santa Barbara, Casa Del Mar is the cute, budget hotel where I often stay when I visit SB. I love it because it is in the perfect location, walking distance to the pier and harbor, and also shopping and restaurants on State St. (Read full Casa Del Mar Review.) $
Hotel INDIGO is a hip, boutique hotel, that is located very close to the pier and is walking distance to downtown. It is also right near the Funk Zone, a cool, new artsy restaurant and urban wine trail area. $$
BACARA RESORT & SPA
Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Barcara Resort & Spa is a Mediterranean-style luxury resort just half a mile from Sandpiper Golf Course and 13 miles from Santa Barbara. The perfect place to stay if you truly want to get away from it all. $$$
