This might be the most underrated place to stay on the ultra coveted Baie de St. Jean on St. Barths Island. You’ve just arrived at Hotel Emeraude Plage and you’re never going to want to leave! Except most of us, including me, can’t afford this pristinely perfect spot on earth. But let’s try, for five days…
We arrive after a short, puddle-jumper plane flight from our friend’s wedding in St Maarten – four of my best friends and myself – and we are here, in St. Barths, to celebrate a bachelorette party. But not just any bachelorette party; a celebration for my dear friend Anna whom I lived with in Santa Barbara, and whom I introduced to her hubby-to-be, so this was really special. I wanted it to be perfect! So how much more perfect can you get than a bachelorette party anywhere on St. Barths?
I’ll tell you: Hotel Emeraude Plage, right on the sand – that’s how! This is the perfect place for a Girls Getaway! Nestled in St. Jean Bay, a mere 2 minute taxi ride from St. Barths Airport, and a stones throw from famous Eden Rock, Hotel Emeraude Plage is the perfect spot for a luxury girls trip, a group retreat, or a romantic getaway. There are 24 bungalows, 3 suites, and 1 gorgeous villa which we had the privilege of calling our home away from home for five nights.
Imagine waking up every morning, right on the ocean, on the prettiest bay you’ve ever seen – white sand and crystal blue water greets you, daring you to try to have one complaint. Whatever problems you had start to melt away because if this place can’t help you relax and enjoy life, nowhere can.
Our 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom villa is nicely updated with flat screen TVs and perfectly decorated with an all white minimalist decor, except for the awesome disco ball hanging in the dining area which I have to say I really loved – almost as much as I loved the private hot tub! I also could not get enough of the fact that we could walk 50 feet and be at the Emeraude Plage Beach Bar, where Mario serves up fresh squeezed juices in the morning and delicious Caribbean cocktails into the early evening.
Just next door to Emeraude Plage you will find the TomBeach Hotel that hosts La Plage Restaurant on the sand, which is my favorite lunch spot on the island! And if you walk just a few minutes up the bay, you’ll hit Eden Rock Hotel where you can have lunch, cocktails, or dine at On The Rocks for dinner. And just around the cove, you will find Nikki Beach, a great beach club for lunch.
You can also go windsurfing, paddle boarding, and surfing right on St. Jean Bay, and a rental shop is located right next door to La Plage! Forget all the tedious planning that you’d have to do on any other group trip. Just tell the concierge at Emeraude Plage where you would like them to book your dinners, arrive, and enjoy! Everything you could ever dream of wanting will be just a few steps outside your door. Welcome to Paradise. Welcome to St. Barths!

Visit Gustavia for great shopping and have lunch (or in our case cocktails for breakfast) at Dõ Brazil on Shell Beach!
For a fun night of dinner, drinks, and dancing go to Le Ti, a cabaret restaurant and bar located in the mountains in the middle of nowhere, or for a more mellow night with great food, try Bonita in Gustavia.
