If you are looking to have a luxurious family getaway in Hawaii look no further than Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina. I spent a week here with my family earlier this month and we had a wonderful family vacation. Located in Ko Olina, on Oahu’s beautiful western coast, this property offers all the luxury amenities you’ve come to expect from Four Seasons, while effortlessly incorporating the spirit of aloha and the tranquility of island life throughout. Here are 10 reasons why Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina is the perfect family getaway destination.

Hawaii is known for its amazing waves so what better place to learn to surf? The awesome concierge team at Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina can set up private or group surf lessons for you and your family. Or, if you know how to surf already, they can arrange a private surf guide to take you surfing at one of the many great breaks on Oahu.

My daughter Sadie just turned two, so she’s not quite old enough to surf with me, but I did have the concierge arrange a surf guide to come pick me up at the hotel and take me surfing twice during our stay. Makani Christensen, the founder of Keawe Adventures was an awesome guide and we had so much fun surfing together, as you can see from the video below. If surfing is not your thing the concierge team can set up an array of other activities for you like jet skiing, sailing, fly fishing, and hiking.

Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina sits on a peaceful, sanding bay that is shallow and calm, proving the perfect conditions for your children to play in the ocean, offering countless hours of fun every day. My daughter Sadie had an absolute blast frolicking at the water’s edge, building sand castles and learning to swim with her arm floats. The hotel offers free paddle boards for guests, so we also did some paddle boarding together, which was remarkably easy because of how calm the bay is. This was Sadie’s first time paddle boarding and she had so much fun. You can watch my FS Oahu IG Stories to see a video of us standing up paddling around the bay, as well as other highlights from our stay!

If you are considering booking Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina for a family stay an Ocean-View One-Bedroom Suite is the way to go. This is the room type we stayed in during our trip and at over 1,400 sq ft it was more than enough room for my husband, daughter and I.  These suites boast two large balconies with sweeping views, and two bathrooms – with the master bathroom having his and hers sinks, a large walk in closet and a huge jacuzzi tub! We set our daughter’s crib up in the living room so she essentially had her own bedroom, which gave us the freedom to enjoy our evenings after she went to bed, without worrying about waking her up. And each morning we had a wonderful family breakfast together on our balcony overlooking the ocean. Paradise found.

If you are a parent you can appreciate just how important it is to have some time away from your kids to relax and unwind – especially when you are on vacation! During our trip, when my daughter and husband were napping in our room, I spent some much-needed alone time enjoying peace, quiet and wine at the adults only pool. This pool offers gorgeous ocean views looking out over Oahu’s rugged western coast, and in the afternoons you’ll meet the “The Doctor,” who rides his cocktail bike around the pool offering guests his complimentary libation of the day.

Dining at Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina is top-notch and all the restaurants at the resort are kid-friendly. My daughter loved eating on the terrace at Mina’s Fish House. She loved the fire torches, and looking out over the ocean at all the lights across the bay. But her favorite meal was ravioli at Noe. We were worried it would be too fancy to take her to dinner there but all the stand were very accommodating and sweet.

My daughter’s absolute favorite thing about staying at Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina were the Koi Fish. There are three beautiful Koi Fish ponds at the resort including two at the entrance of the hotel, so when you arrive you are literally greeted by giant Koi Fish who eagerly approach you hoping you will provide them with their next meal. If you ask at the main entrance desk they will give your child some fish food pellets so they can feed the fish. Every morning after breakfast, and every night before bed my daughter had to visit and feed the fish, which made her day. One of the best things about hanging out with children, is that they are a constant reminder to appreciate the simple things in life.

No luxury vacation is complete without a trip to the spa. My After two early morning surf sessions a deep tissue massage followed by an hour lounging in the outdoor relaxation area, listening to the peaceful sound of wind blowing through the palm fronds, was just what I needed to truly unwind. I loved the Naupanka Spa: my massage was excellent and I highly recommend the coconut oil scalp massage and hair treatment add-on.

Or fancy a round of golf? My husband and father played at Ko Olina Golf Club, which you can easily walk to from the resort. They said the course was very good, and they had a lot of fun playing there.

Secret Beach, located right next to Four Seasons Oahu at Ko Olina, is a small uncrowded beach that provides the perfect place to sit and take in the beauty of Oahu’s western coast. In the distance you will see volcanic mountains jetting into the sea, with palm trees and crystal blue water hugging the coastline. The concierge told me that sea turtles can sometimes be found here early in the morning! And Secret Beach is also a great place to take photos, and the perfect place to sit and watch a magical Hawaii sunset over the ocean.
