Exploring The High Line, NYC

April 6, 2013 by @VanessaRivers

Yesterday I visited the High Line for my second time, and I know it won’t be my last. The High Line is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It has become one of my favorite places in NY because it’s a beautiful walk and an amazing way to experience nature blending into a strong urban backdrop.

My friend Lisa and I grabbed a late, boozy lunch on the patio at The Standard Grill, which is located in the meatpacking district, right under the line, and offers a fantastic American cuisine menu of fresh salads, sandwiches and seafood. We shared 1/2 dozen oysters, a bottle of Rose and a Portobello & avocado sandwich (yum!) and then headed up for a stroll in the sunshine. It was a beautiful warm spring day and a perfect way to spend an afternoon in the city.

Any place that serves pickles as an appetizer is good by me!

All smiles walking the High Line

Love the way The High Line brings urban building together with art and nature!

Love Lisa!

One of my fave things at The High Line is the traffic observatory!
