Fitness & Health We Luv

30 Day Ab Challenge

February 2, 2013 by @VanessaRivers

Ladies! I don’t know about you but I am sick of seeing pictures of super fit girls with amazing abs and being jealous! I have always been into jogging and surfing but I have never committed myself to getting the rock hard abs I’ve always wanted. So I decided to finally do something about it and devote the next 30 days to creating my dream stomach so that I can feel confident year round in my favorite skimpy bikinis, or be brave enough to slip into sexy lingerie for my man anytime, just because…

Misha & I are calling it the 30 Day Ab Challenge and it’s pretty simple. For the next 30 Days we will be doing 500 crunches/day, 6x/week AND 45+ minutes of cardio 6 days a week, along with a less strict version of our “detox diet” of vegetables, proteins and fruit. Day 7 will be our rest & relax day to not work out and eat & drink whatever we want. We picked Sunday (YES! Superbowl!), but you should have your R&R break on whichever day works best for you.

Neither of us are fitness experts so I am not going to tell you which kind of crunches or sit-ups to do, but I created a simple plan that works for me. I do 10 sets of 50 crunches and alternate the type I am doing so I get a well-rounded stomach workout. I also count each second in plank as a crunch so I have been doing 2 sets of 50 second planks, and counting that as 100 crunches. I also stretch in between my sets to help with fatigue and I try very hard to keep my form up so I don’t strain my neck muscles. I timed myself this morning and it took less than 15 minutes to do 500 crunches so at the max you’re looking at 20 minutes out of your day to get the stomach you’ve always wanted, so I hope you’ve been persuaded to join us in our quest for amazing abs. Cheers to feeling fit and happy!

xx, V & Misha

Be sure to watch your form & alternate different types of crunches to get the best results without hurting your body!

Plank is a great core stabilization workout & will help you achieve a flat and toned stomach!

Get outside! Surfing, hiking or beach runs are all great ways to burn calories and help you loose fat which will allow those new ab muscles to show!
